Join us for an exclusive keynote and moderated discussion with Emmy Award winning sportscaster and entrepreneur, Leslie Gudel. As the first female sports broadcaster in Philadelphia, Leslie had a front-row seat to some of the most exciting years in this region’s sports history. She built on that energy and experience to start several businesses across multiple industries, as well as a non-profit called Kendall’s Crusade. Leslie will share her message of resilience, reframing, and positivity, as she highlights leadership lessons from her time in broadcasting, as well as the ups and downs of her years of running several businesses. Then Leslie will participate in a moderated Q&A to dive deeper into her experiences in both broadcasting and business.

The discussion will be moderated by Bob Kelly, traffic anchor and feature reporter for Fox 29.

    About Leslie Gudel:

Leslie Gudel is an Emmy winning sportscaster and entrepreneur.  A native of Los Angeles, Gudel moved to Philadelphia in 1997 where she became the city’s first female sports broadcaster, helping launch Comcast SportsNet (now NBC Sports Network).  During her 19 years with Comcast SportsNet, Gudel used her spare time on the national beat. She spent three years with ABC Sports as a sideline reporter for college football, as well as reporting from the US Open Figure Skating Championships, Indy 500 and Little League World Series. Additionally, Gudel had a five-year run as co-host of  “NASCAR Garage” on TNN and as the sideline reporter for the Pro Bowler’s Tour on ESPN.

As an entrepreneur, Gudel launched her first of two businesses in 2009, while maintaining her on-air job. Her company, Baby Matters, generated 12 million in revenue over four years.  Gudel launched her second company in 2015, an online gift product company called Flatterbox.

After 25 years in broadcasting, Gudel transitioned to the business side of sports. She is currently the COO of Strategic Sports Marketing (SSM) and Elevate Sports and Media. SSM focuses on pairing athletes with brands/corporations, as well as taking an active role in the new Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) opportunity with college athlete. It’s Gudel’s goal to help athletes build a brand while they’re playing so they have an asset to leverage after their playing careers are over. Elevate Sports and Media is a start-up sports agency, currently in its infancy. Additionally, Gudel is involved in the company’s other brand, Sports Vault, an online memorabilia business.

Gudel’s daughter had a stroke in 2014 at the age of ten, the result of a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in her brain. This led to the creation of a non-profit called Kendall’s Crusade. To date, they’ve raised just over $350,000 in five years to help fund research and care for patients with an AVM. Outside of wearing these many hats, Gudel loves working out, traveling, cooking, photography and spending time with her two kids, Kendall (18) and Chase (16).

    About Bob Kelly:

Bob Kelly joined the FOX 29 News team in October 2014 as the traffic reporter for "Good Day Philadelphia." In that role he also hosts the regular morning segments "Kelly's Classroom," "Breakfast with Bob," and "Town Takeover," all which take him out into the community to connect with "Good Day Philadelphia" viewers. He's also co-hosted the Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade for more than 15 years.

Prior to joining FOX 29, Bob was the Traffic Anchor for 13 years at CBS 3 in Philadelphia. He became the first Philadelphia traffic anchor to do his reports in front of the green screen. Animated and fun to watch with his highly popular phrases like Jammo, Two Jelly Donut Delay, and the Conshy Curve, Bob is now referred to by so many as "The Dean of Traffic."

Through the years, the Emmy Award-winning Traffic Anchor has entertained sports fans on the Jumbotron at the Eagles, Flyers and Sixers games, and with his popular segment "Tailgate Takeover," before Eagles games.

Growing up in Northeast Philadelphia where they always decorate for Christmas, he created "A Very Kelly Christmas," hitting the road during the month of December and broadcasting LIVE from the front lawns of the best decorated houses.

Bob began his career as a radio disc jockey, working with Jerry Blavat, The Geator.

He worked up and down the dial at Philly's hottest radio stations, until traffic became news and he joined KYW News Radio with Traffic on the 2s.

A Northeast Philadelphia native, Bob knows all the neighborhoods, the landmarks, and the best place to get a great jelly donut. A graduate of North Catholic High School and Temple University, he is a local guy through and through.
